"Empuraan Box Office: Mohanlal's Film Gets 'Earth-Shattering' Response Despite Mixed Reviews, Sequel Title Confirmed"

Prithviraj Sukumaran's directorial Empuraan, starring Mohanlal, has officially released in theatres worldwide, sparking a massive buzz in both domestic and international markets. The film’s extensive promotional campaign has fueled anticipation, drawing attention to its grand visuals and impressive technical elements.

In an interview with SCREEN, Prithviraj emphasized that Empuraan is more than just a spectacle. He highlighted that while the teaser and trailer may focus on its scale and stunning shots, the film is deeply content-driven, featuring a well-layered, coherent rative. "This is not just about glitz and glamour; the story is at the heart of the film," he explained, reinforcing the film's commitment to substance.

The movie brings back Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, and Indrajith in their roles from the franchise’s first film, Lucifer. Joining the ensemble cast are new faces like Abhimanyu Singh, Jerome Flynn, Eriq Ebouaney, and Suraj Venjaramoodu.

Empuraan has made history by becoming the first Malayalam film to surpass a worldwide gross of Rs 80 crore on its opening day, according to the makers. The movie also achieved a remarkable milestone, selling over 1 million advance tickets on BookMyShow.

The film, written by Murali Gopy, is produced by Antony Perumbavoor and Gokulam Gopalan under the banners of Aashirvad Cinemas Pvt Ltd and Sree Gokulam Movies.
