Sudhir Mishra Critiques "Adolescence" for Top Spot on Netflix India, Slams Recent Weak Scripts
Bollywood producer-director Sudhir Mishra has raised questions about the British series 'Adolescence' being liked in India. In a rather sarcastic take, the filmmaker has taken a dig at scriptwriters.
Sudhir Mishra's take on Adolescence
Sudhir Mishra took to his X account to share his thoughts on the British series Adolescence. "How is Adolescence the No. 1 show on Netflix India? It goes against all conventional wisdom. Indians aren’t supposed to enjoy slow-burn stories. It breaks every rule taught by bad scriptwriting schools. It spirals down instead of soaring. It’s the best news in years," tweeted the director of Khoya Khoya Chand.
Don’t Miss Out on Good Taste
Sudhir Mishra decided to watch Adolescence after his friends, director Hansal Mehta and Shekhar Kapur, praised it on social media. However, one user challenged his opinion, suggesting that Indians enjoy the British series only because it’s popular in the West. In response, Mishra defended his stance, saying, "No, good taste should never be dismissed. You can disregard fine wine as elite, but not great stories. Don’t bring it down; uplift the masses. If you want to stand shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the world and compete globally, this is the way."
